The Komiža cinema is one of the oldest cinemas in Croatia and is an all-time favourite part of Komiža’s cultural scene. The cinema has never stopped working, not even in the difficult times without appropriate technical equipment. Rather, it became involved in Mediteran Cinema project’s excellent programme coordination and focused on independent and European film titles.
Thanks to outstanding results and quite a strong audience development, the cinema was granted Ministry of Culture’s funds for digitisation and has been since October 2015 operating with new, cutting-edge technical equipment.
Mediteran Cinema is a cinema revitalisation project in Dalmatia, conducted in more than 20 towns. Komiža, alongside Bol, Hvar, Imotski and Pirovac, is one of the rare Dalmatia cinemas with digital equipment.
Mediteran Cinema Komiža is organised in association with the Komiža Nautical Centre and Town of Komiža.
Komiža has been part of the Mediteran Cinema project from the very beginning in 2012.
