Summer at the Cinema: The Finest Festival Films Brought to You by Cinema Network

Fans of the seventh art across Croatia will have a chance this summer to enjoy a selection of the finest titles from four prestigious film festivals. The Croatian Independent Cinemas Network and the Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC) have prepared an event under the title Summer at the Cinema, presenting outstanding European and Croatian films from the festivals in Split, Pula and Motovun.

The idea of the Summer at the Cinema project was to bring and offer audiences across Croatia the line-ups of summer film festivals in Croatia. All the interested cineastes have a chance to see, courtesy of the Cinema Network, a selection of films from the Mediterranean Film Festival Split, Pula Film Festival and Motovun Film Festival. The Cinema Network listings are running the entire summer, with films released immediately after individual festivals.

“Summer film festivals are the sources and focal points of good energy, fun and even better film titles. The Croatian Audiovisual Centre is pleased that this summer’s cinematic feasts will spread across the entire Network, not just the festival locations. We are certain that in scorching summer evenings people will seek refreshment in their cinemas, as this summer’s catch will be a fantastic one!” said Rea Rajčić, cinema project manager at HAVC.

The first such line-up was the one from the Mediterranean Film Festival Split, whose ninth edition took place 3-11 June. The following movies were displayed: “The Second Mother” by Anna Muylaert, “Road to Istambul” by Rachid Bouchareb and “Twilight of a life” by Sylvain Biegeleisena.

The other line-up was the one from 63. Pula Film Festival that took place from 19th July to 8 of August. The following movies were displayed: “The Trampoline“ by  Zrinka Katarina Matijević and three co-productions: “A Good Wife“ by Mirjana Karanović, “Sparrows“ by Rúnar Rúnarsson i “Full Contact“ by David Verbeek.

In August we proceed with the following program and the movies from Motovun Film Festival were shown: “Viva” by Paddy Breathnach and movie “Clan” by Pablo Traper.

See you at the cinema – things are better at the cinema!
